I SURVIVED! Just barely. (x-posted to My Space)
This week at work was HELL. Each individual day felt SO long, but the week went by quick. If that makes sense.
Rush week is just busy as hell at work.
(DAMN! I just realized I forgot to call this guy and leave him a message about the check we sent out Friday. CRAP.)
I was looking forward to Friday ALL week, Heather came to pick me up from work..(It's BEEN too long since someone picked me up straight from work to go have fun. It makes the day fly by, or at least not matter so much...cause it's like....well, in a couple hours it'll be the weekend and I already have FUN planned, so what the hell do I care?)
I don't think I've gone out directly from work for anything fun since May, when I went to ThatGirly's party and Karina picked me up from work for that.
So yeah, it was a rough week. It was bash the schedule week and I'm still new at it. Which is why I always have them check it over, before it's finalized. Any problems or concerns need to hammered out then. Not later when all I can do is listen to you bitch about it and not be able to fix it.
It doesn't solve anything and only makes me feel like shit. Like I can't do it well enough. I've gotten enough of that feeling in my life thank you, and I've really gotten better at not taking things too personally and assuming everything that is wrong is my fault and really people would be better off without me. Enough of that defeatist bullshit. But the schedule is too new and I have to have a better perspective.
This whole week was me trying to put it into a better perspective and realize that NO MATTER what I do, someone is not going to be happy about something. Ideally all these people would like to work 12 - 4, and not have to be there early or late.
Well, GUESS WHAT? That's not fucking realistic.
I've been there almost 4 years and I close ALL THE DAMN TIME still. How do these people expect to never have to close? I've been there longer and I STILL have to close. I had to close in the beginning when Derek was at daycare and I got off too late to go get him. I had to have Jake's mom pick him up some days and Ben the others.
When Jake's mom forgot her pills or didn't feel well...I guess that's the way she put it, she'd call and back out on me and I'd have to call Ben and get him to go get him. This was when we were still newly going out and I really felt like I was asking too much of him.
Then she'd say things like...I don't know how to deal with Derek. Yes, at 4, he was kind of a holy terror sometimes. But she had 8 KIDS! You'd think she'd know how to deal with ONE 4 year old.
Obviously, it was frustrating. But I did what I had to, and now these people are bitching about....well...nothing that I can see. Nothing big like taking care of your own child. But what the hell do I know?
It's just that some people seem so young and that they don't really know life. Like THIS is the biggest thing you have to bitch about? Work is not always fun, work is not necessarily something you want to go in and do everyday, but people HAVE TO.
Deanna and Ruby are the easiest ones to schedule for, and Lawrence may bitch but it's almost like bantering. That I can deal with. It's the higher ups and people I hardly know teasing me about it that bothers me. We aren't friends enough for you to jokingly call me a stupid bitch and for me to take it the right way. I might know that you were joking, but it's still going to bother me. (edit for this blog only) Especially since your DUMB ASS is ALWAYS complaining. About EVERYTHING. Always. Too tired, sick, and well, just lazy. She doesn't like working, even though she usually only SITS THERE AND TALKS. How can she NOT like work? She doesn't even have to work. HOLY FUCK, I will be SO glad when she leaves. One more year, people, just ONE.
Ok, that was a LONG rant about work.
On to the happier part of my week, which was last night.
Heather picked me up and we went to Good Times for a bit. They've replaced the jukebox in there and let me tell you, it is a PAIN IN THE ASS. All electronic and a stupid amount of work to do to find a song. A dollar gets you two credits and most songs are two credits. Except Usher's Yeah, the first one I picked. So I was screwed trying to find another song. EVERYTHING cost two and I only have one.
That was stupid. But we finally found something and hung out a bit longer. Then she realized she wanted to go to her favorite bar and show me it.
AWESOME. Seriously. I liked it a lot.
The bartender's were really friendly. And no one even looked at me twice (or I didn't see them) when I started getting REALLY loud excited at the trivia playing.
I saw Marcia, and she looked good. Cute tattoo on her back. =)
I drank a lot of beer.
We played way too much trivia, trying really hard to get number one.
We came back here and drank more beer and just hung out a bit. She went home around 10:30 and I passed the hell out at midnight. I was too tired, I got up at 6 and I was just exhausted.
All in all, a VERY fun night. She was worried she was boring me and to tell you the god honest truth, she's never bored me. Even just sitting there with her is just awesome. She was right, I did get mad about the creamer war. I was never a good shot and EVERYONE else got me. I think I'd be better able to laugh it off now, but I was a teenager then and so sure I looked like an idiot, I got angry.
Back before I realized that if you can't laugh at your life, you'll just be pissed all the time.
I was one pissed off teenager.
No one can hardly believe my kid is going to be 9. I can hardly believe it. But thinking about him and how much I've grown since having him, I'm so grateful. It feels like he made me grow up and be so much better than I used to be.
I've gotten better at not being so self defeating. I've gotten better at parenting, that's for sure.
I've gotten better in my attitude towards life and the things I used to do, long before I had a kid. Stupid things that could've got me into trouble. Especially if I was still doing them.
Anyhow, this got a little more in depth than I'd planned, especially for Saturday morning. After a night of beer drinking.
So I'm gonna leave it there and go make Derek some lunch. All the responsibilities of being a parent.
THANKS FOR THE BEERS HEATHER! I had fun, and I hope we can do it again soon. Definitely sooner, rather then later. =)

I keep my eyes out. But for the most part, I like the work...just not the people.
