Logic vs. the unknown

Image
I'm watching "A Haunting" cause I can. (YAY for a day off!) As "left brain" as I am, I must admit that I'm not entirely sure of the non-existence of ghosts. Aliens, I have no problem not believing in, but ghosts are entirely another subject. Maybe it's completely ridiculous, but the way I feel when alone in a quiet house has nothing to do with logic. I'm feeling bad for the kid in this one. He just keeps trying to tell his parents about this "ghost" or "demon" or whatnot, and they don't believe him. Could I believe Derek if he said that same thing? Without seeing anything weird? This is like the boogeyman in the closet thing. Who believes their child when they think there's someone under the bed? Granted, you do look for someone or something, but do any of us parents really believe there could be something there? I'm freaking myself out, my favorite thing to do, so I shall go and watch the rest of this and hope the boy...

I hope that I did not just do the most monumentally stupid thing ever

My stomach rebelled after lunch Thursday, but then seemed fine. Might it have been the turkey? I just ate another damn turkey sandwich, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Good weekend. I won at Risk, but only because Derek decided that he didn't care about winning, only making sure that Ben did not win. LOL. Ben should lose once in awhile dammit. > I almost lost in the end anyhow, but I managed to pull through. It was touch and go. Plus I got my hair cut. A lot of it. I'm SO happy about it. It's pretty and bouncy and can actually be worn down without me wanting to take scissors to it on my own. And I had a coupon, so it was only $5! Except I tipped her a dollar. But I have lovely hair again, so I shall try my hardest not to dye my hair and kill it again. It hates the bleach, go figure. And I just want to be blonde, so I should not dye my hair at all. That's the answer. I can't be blond, so no hair color. Maybe I can grow some gray hairs instead. Ha ha...

Teh Awesome.

I got a HAIR CUT. Seriously. I can FINALLY not hate my hair. It was strange, being able to wear it down today. It could use another dye job. I've been kind of listening when people have given advice about it. Someone said I should do the Burgundy that I used to do. Problem: Red fades FAST and then I end up orange. She liked the way it looked orange. I don't know. I could see doing some dark and drastic, but I don't have time or the inclination for up-keep on red hair. Much like the blonde, I just don't do it often enough. Karina mentioned brown or black. I've avoided black for fear of looking like a wannabe vampire, but maybe I could pull it off. Brown seems more do-able, the only problem being then I'd look more like my mom and I've avoided that for YEARS. I don't know. Maybe a REALLY dark brown. And having bangs would help, as she never had bangs. I've been fascinated with black ever since I started thinking about it. I just don't want to do so...

Adventures in hair cutting

I guess I should elaborate, as I am wont to do on almost everything. I've had BAD hair cutting experiences. Is it because I am not picky enough? I don't know. My dad used to MAKE me get my hair cut. My wish was for long hair, but when it was the only time I spent with him, I didn't push it too hard. My mom was always asking why I didn't just tell him. I think I did, but he didn't care? I don't know. He knew I didn't like it very much, somehow. I know this because one day when I was supposed be getting a hair cut, I woke up with a stiff neck. I told my dad this, and he said that I was faking it (oh, I was SO upset by that when I was younger, in retrospect, and after having my own kid, I understand.) and that I was getting my hair cut. I was not faking it, and instead had uneven hair until the next time. Then my stepbrother stuck gum in my hair and my stepsister had to cut a whole chunk out of the back of my hair. =( I'm sure I looked awful. Then, as a te...
