Seriously
That's my new favorite word. Seriously. Or again...I'm pretty sure I've liked seriously before.
So! I was racking my brain, trying to come up with something semi-entertaining. I've been losing hits and I know it's cause I don't update enough. I've managed not to get into my no-comments funk (You know, the one where I get all butt hurt about no one commenting)....with MUCH help from Karina. She is a serial commenter. Which is awesome.
Otherwise, I might have given up on this here blog. I didn't use to care about comments before I KNEW people read it. =S
Which is weird.
I guess I like to know that I've touched someone. I've brought to their mind something similar, or they just want to talk to me. =)
So..I've been taking pictures, to use as filler. That way I can spin a post out of a couple of pictures. Today we are going to talk about my reading habits as of lately.
First, I picked up "Unzipped". This was the book that I read through in about two days. It was lighthearted, good mystery, some amount of danger, and some sex. You don't get much better than that.
After I sped through that one...the lesson I should have learned was not to bring books home. I read them too quickly and I might actually deplete my library.
Not to mention, over fill my bookcase @ home.
Instead, I picked up "Bad Kitty". Again with the light mystery and romance. No sex, the heroine was a mere 17, so she didn't do that. (I would've been hard pressed to find a 17 year old virgin, at least the way everyone at school talked. I felt like the last one. I wasn't, but I felt like it.)
This one was funnier. Especially for someone like me who can be easily distracted. This book distracts you on purpose with footnotes at the bottom that are like a conversation people are having AROUND the story. Sometimes it was IMing, but mostly it was people butting into her story with their perceptions. I love multiple points of view, so this book didn't take me long to get through either.
Many times I actually laughed out loud. This was the first time.
"Then there was one of those silences where everyone studies the carpeting like they've never seen such a remarkable substance before-carpeting! Wonder of wonders! It's like hair! For the floor!-until L.A. Curtis stepped in to rescue us."
At the end of the little blurb done by the artist, cause it's advance reading and she still has to sell it, she ends with this, which I found hilarious:
"And if you don't decided to open the book, I hope you still take it with you wherever you go because the sparkles on the front can reflect the sun and help send messages if you find yourself in peril. Really, I am only thinking of you."
The next one, I decided should be a little heavier. It ended up being a SCIENCE FICTION book. I know! I was surprised too. Sci-fi is just not my thing. However, you can forgive me, since the title was "Nymphos of Rocky Flats".
I honestly thought it was gonna be about Nymphos. Not much, too my disappointment. The nymphomania was only a side story, as were the vampire killers. SPOILER ALERT!
Instead, it ended up being about aliens?
Apparently, aliens cause Nymphomania. The vampire part of the story was amusing. They went out in the day with the aid of sun block (HAHAHAHA) and pancake make-up.
Again, there was a mystery. Learned new words and new "vampire" tricks.
Plus, this vampire story gave them the ability to see auras, which has fascinated me since Insomnia by Stephen King. Gotta love the auras. Though in this book, humans auras were all the same color. Not so in the Stephen King book. I like the different colors better. =)
I liked this line -
"Depression is anger without enthusiasm." =) Struck me as kinda true.
The last book I picked out of my library at work (and I'm currently reading it) is a bit gorier and heavier. It will not come home with me, I should not read it at night. It's called "The Torso"...and it's about....a Torso. Imagine that. I could just imagine the dreams I would have about that.
I might have to take a different book home though. When I'm bored at home now, I only re-read my older books. Like Jackie Collins. Lust and greed and the mob. I could re-read them a million times, but I've managed to forget them and read other things.
Expanding my books and spelling are good things. Plus, they are free. It's free to read. Who can be bored when they have a book?
At this point, I am ALL about the free stuff.

Also, why is it that when I get done "reviewing" a book, I always here the little jingle from Reading Rainbow.
You know the one? Where the kid gets done talking about how much they loved this book and then it does the little jingle? I can't spell it out. I can't explain it. If you don't know then you childhood was very deprived, cause your parents didn't let you watch Reading Rainbow.

I can't imagine it, cause boy, I LOVE it when people have written. I'm all about reading.
