Fun with pictures and babies
This is the wonderful picture they brought back from Portland. Karen called it something along the lines of Devil-Jake. And he does look a little mean. But Derek is just BEAMING and it's a really good picture of him.
I tried to Photoshop it, but I erased too close to his right ear.(THE POWER OF ERASING JAKE FROM A PHOTO made me giggle. I know that's not nice.) His hair is sticking out funny and I couldn't quite get around it easily. I like it, other than that. I might look for a different background and maybe even put black under her head.
This was the first picture I took. She was loud and squally. Freaked me out. I'm used to babies liking me. She just wasn't happy apparently. Karen said that was pretty normal. I held her for a few minutes and then just handed her back. I thought I might drop her. Small and cute, but loud.
Right before I took this picture, she put her head back down. And this was the whole ten seconds when she wasn't crying. It was ALMOST a good picture.
And then she started crying again.I don't seem to have a magical touch with the babies anymore. Oh well. Perhaps that will dampen the baby lust further. I know I don't want to have any more kids, and seriously? After the stomach cramping of last night, there is no way I'm going through labor again. While I was pretty seriously drugged up, I'm sure there were similarities between labor and awful stomach cramping. But now maybe I won't HAVE to hold every baby, when I see one.
Derek was a quiet baby. Hardly ever cried. It was awesome.

She's Jake's kid
And finally realized the full implications of all that meant.
