I felt like I should say something, seeing as how it’s a new month and all that.
Can you believe that it’s April?
April fool’s day at that. I’ve not been tricked today, but the day isn’t over yet.
I can’t ever think of a good trick, I just always think of that whole "I’m pregnant" thing. LOL.
Ben might actually have a heart attack, but it’s so MEAN, I can’t quite bring myself to do it. If he even fell for it, he might not. He’s smart like that.
I have so many thoughts going through my head lately. I’ve been thinking of the past, like usual. I do have good memories along with the weird ones, it’s just the weird ones that I dwell on.
It’s the random lyrics that get me. I hear something and start formulating a blog around it. Like the above? It actually just popped out of the current Bjork song I am listening to.
Speaking of dwelling, today is an anniversary of sorts.
I’ve been aware of it since I left home this morning. I knew it was coming.
Today it’s been 15 years since I was caught shoplifting at the Mall in Colorado.
I was SUCH a juvenile delinquent, ha ha. Not that it’s really funny of course, but it gives me hope, cause look how I turned out. Pretty ok, pretty smart, if I do say so myself. So perhaps other juvenile delinquents turn out like me. Some MUST. It’s just the ones who didn’t that I seemed to know or hear of.
Every year I relive that day. It’s not something that pre-occupies every waking thought, but it certainly sits there in the back of my mind all day.
I was caught shoplifting panties. They held me until they could get someone on the phone. Except they never were able to, so they let me go. I walked home after waiting until I was "supposed" to be home that day, and my dad was there. My parents are never in the same room unless they need to be. Which meant trouble for me. I don’t even think I passed go, I went straight to jailmy room. I had to wonder what my dad thought when he heard that message? Did he think that maybe it was an April Fool’s Day joke? And did my parents worry as much as I worry about Derek each time I did something stupid? Probably. Being a parent sucks, cause I can see how much of a crappy kid I was sometimes. Meh.
I got put in handcuffs, walked to the back of the store to a little room, cried my eyes out.
My first reaction to any sort of stress, of course.
We had skipped school on top of it, so my dad called the school and told on me, after calling the cops and telling them my name. They had it all screwed around, something like Deidre? Now, I was crying, so maybe it was hard to hear me, but I was not quick enough to come up with a fake name. It all looked pretty fishy, I’m sure. And the cops told my mom that I was stealing men’s underwear. So then she was convinced I was a pervert on top of it. I’ve never seen men’s underwear that look like panties, but WHATEVER. Assholes.
Ok, so I’m a little bitter, but how often did I hear about me stealing MEN’S underpants? A lot. =(
Maybe this is why I don’t like cops? I always wondered why I instinctively tense up when police are around.
I suppose I should not lump them in together, as I’ve also dealt with very nice police men. Like the guy who was so nice when they got my out after curfew and sent me to Skipworth for the night, cause I refused to go home.
Wow, this has completely turned into a "Desiree=Juvenile delinquent post".
Back on track. Forgive me, I’m just a little scattered today.
I went to court for that transgression. And then my dad paid a hefty fee, and I was supposed to attend an all day class about why shoplifting is bad, but we moved here to Oregon before I could go, so my dad had to pay more money.
And that’s the last time I had to deal with a court room, until this year with the computer crap.
And I’ve had to write it down on every job application, cause it was supposed to be cleared off my record, but I’ve also heard that you have to actually tell them to clear it.
It’s never been the reason why I didn’t get hired somewhere, but I suppose I really should check into that. Can I run a criminal background check on myself? LOL.
I’m glad that I got the thrill out of my system before I was 18.
In completely different other news, I got to hold a BABY today! A tiny little thing, only two and a half months. She was so wiggly, I was half afraid that I would drop her. She snuggled into my shirt and started sucking her hand and I just about died from the sweetness. She was perfectly comfortable with me, unlike Lily as a small baby. That girl wanted nothing to do with me, but Malea was so comfortable. Then she laid in the crook of my arm and made baby faces at me, they are so very expressive with their faces at that age. Her eyes are dark and huge, and she was so calm. I think I’m in love with her. I don’t like what comes after the baby part, but man, if I could just have a 6 month old forever? I may be more tempted. You know, until it NEVER grew up. That wouldn’t work. I shall just have to get my baby love from others. =)
It really made my day to be able to hold her. I had told Michael that I REALLY wanted to, but I didn’t want to just go and grab her or anything. lol. He was like..that’s fine. So, I got her for at least ten minutes. I would have held her longer, work be damned, but she was fussing a bit, and they wanted to go home, so no luck.
All in all? A good April Fool’s Day. Much better than that one 15 years ago.
If you made it this far on my HUGE ass blog entry, thanks!
I hope I amused you, at least a little bit.
