A case of the Mondays
When they say that in Office Space? I groan every time. If someone made a scrunchy face at me at work and said "Sounds like someone's got a case of the Mondays"?, they might possibly end up dead. Not really. I don't think anyone likes Mondays in general, but I don't know anyone who would say something like that.
Here at the bookstore, it's not your typical Monday. See, it's right after Audit, so a few people have went on vacation, a few people are off for Saturday, and about the only people we have here today are the kids. The kids=all interns and my cashiers. So, it's been quiet. Which is good and bad. No one to get on my case also means the day seems to go SO slow and I spend too much time taking a quick peek at the internet here and there. In the long run, I have to police myself. Audit is over, so that's a big thing gone. What I still need to do before they take all my files from last year away is to pull the remainder of the checks I need for researching. I have plenty to do, I just don't want to.
My throat is still being a little iffy. I think I have to go to the doctor, and I hope that if he gives me antibiotics, at least they will be warranted and not just so that he can shove me out the door. I feel better, less stupid in the head, but my throat is still being weird, so I don't know. I haven't gotten a headache yet today. I think I'm just trying to avoid the doctor, but I'm not entirely sure. I guess we'll see come tomorrow. Or at the end of the day.
Why is it so hard to get up on this day? Monday is the bane of my existence, I think. I went to bed kind of late, but I slept in super late on Sunday, so it should balance out. I didn't even wake up a bunch like I've been doing lately.
It was so rainy that all I wanted to do was call in and pull the quilt over me and sit on the couch for the whole day.
I think that my body protesting didn't help.
I spent a great deal of time on the kid's room yesterday, much like last Sunday. I SHOULD have done it Saturday and been able to sleep in Sunday, but I was too stupid to do that. Ha. I think I played on the computer a lot? Also, I got petulant about Ben not wanting cheese sticks. I should have just walked down there myself and got them, but it was late.
So, I went in there under great duress yesterday and I just dumped out everything from the toy box. All the little things left over, I just dumped them. Once that was over, it really wasn't that hard to pick up the other little pieces and clean off enough of the floor to vacuum under the toy box, in the toy box, move the bed, clean under it, then vacuum that as well. Every tiny bit that I got done took me one step closer. I'm so close to being DONE I can practically taste it. So close that I had to keep going in there last night and doing ONE MORE THING. All I really need to do is finish cleaning off the love seat and then putting the various sorted boxes of toys in various areas. It's SO damn organized, and I KNOW that it'll be about ONE day before the kid tears it all up again. But if I get it done TONIGHT, then it will be clean for 5 whole days, maybe even 6 if he doesn't go in there much after getting home Sunday. LOL.
I have a TON of Disney books, cause I know Derek doesn't care. I'm trying to figure out a way to get rid of them. Most of the toys that are gone were broke, missing pieces, or things like whistles. I threw those away. All the whistles are gone, and it feels like quite a victory. I hate those whistles.
Ben didn't get the job with the Bookstore, which saddens me, but there isn't much I can do really. He's thinking about checking in with the phone surveying people, which might really be his best bet. Since Derek gets back into town with a whole week and a half until school starts, I think I'm counting it as a blessing that he doesn't have a job yet. I mean, then we would just have to find day care for a whole week and a half. Not an easy prospect, really.
I have one more free weekend before the kid comes home. And not even a full weekend at that, but I won't have to be home, alert, or even pretending to be awake early, as they said it would be late afternoon, early evening. I must admit, I will feel better with the kid home. I miss that little rascal, though he still finds ways to make me laugh. He called me the other day, and then called me right back. I'm not sure if the phone re-dialed me, or if he accidentally re-dialed me. In any case, I answered the phone a little quizzically and he just kept saying..well, I don't have anything else to tell you. But he'd called me? I could tell he was confused to, like I had called him back or something. I never really got down to the bottom of it, cause then he asked me what the beeping noise was, and I didn't hear it, so I said...well, your dad probably has another call, and that effectively ended our conversation. They are supposed to have gone camping this weekend. I told Derek to make sure not to wander off. I know how Jake keeps an eye on our kid. I've seen it first hand.
In my one more free weekend, I'm very much hoping for something fun to happen. What? No idea, but something. I guess I'm hoping someone throws a party at a decent time in the evening, so that I can still catch a bus home. Or that someone comes to visit me, or something else that is cheap. I would just say, hey, let's hit up the bar, but the bar is EXPENSIVE. Even though I love pool, it costs much.
Maybe I'll just stay up super late, and that will be my fun time!
Any one have ideas, or know of something going on that I would enjoy?
