O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum...

Did I mention we actually got a tree this year?
My kid is 10 and I FINALLY get a tree.
I had to work that day, so Ben and Derek trudged off to Fred Meyers and came back with a tree. I came home and everything was moved around and the tree was set up on it's stand.
Ben is awesome, but you knew that already.
For not having a tree for 10 years, I still managed to somehow have ornaments. Some of them were suspiciously religious, so I think that my landlord may have passed them on to me.
They were cute, mostly little wooden trinket type ornaments. What I really liked (cause I'm a dork) was the 12 little coaster type ornaments displaying all twelve of the 12 Night of Christmas. Ben put on the lights, I started going with the ornaments.
Now Ben had to make sure that the lights were "perfect" and then he has the nerve to ask me if I put those ornaments up randomly.
Um, NO, I'm an accountant, I can not just randomly put numbers out of order. LOL.
We had fun decorating the tree, it was pretty, we forgot to turn the lights off regularly, we also forgot to water it all the time.
I think I know why we haven't had a tree before and I also think that we maybe shouldn't be ALLOWED to have a tree.
We're a fire hazard, pretty much waiting to happen.
But we had a damn tree, we were all festive like.
Besides Derek who decided that Santa must not bring all the presents that are labeled from Santa, cause how would Santa know to bring a CD player, since we were giving him CDs?
He's smart.
I swore that I didn't buy the CD player, he said "Then Ben did", and I swore that Ben hadn't bought it either.
No one bought it really, the neighbor was given it and decided she didn't need it.
He believes me because I SWORE. Ha ha.
I don't know why he believes me at all, since I did tell him that next year we may be Jewish and celebrate Chanukah.

It comes down to how to get rid of the tree, and all of the sudden I realize that not only do I have to pay for the thing, but now I must pay someone to get rid of it as well. They really get you coming and going.
We were coming hope from shopping on Sunday, all three of us and the wagon - I don't know if it was obvious that we did not have a car, or if the woman just decided she'd ask us for the heck of it - but we were accosted by a woman who asked if we wanted her to come and get out Christmas tree. $5. Which is what everyone else is charging, so we say sure. We give her our address and a time to pick it up yesterday.
Around 3 or so Ben calls me at work and says that he put the tree outside so it would be ready for them and now it's gone.
We wonder if maybe they will come back for the money later. Maybe that's just the way they roll.
Around 5 or so Ben calls me again at work and tells me the people are there to pick up the tree.
Um...what tree?
She actually got annoyed at Ben that we wasted her gas. Like we had her phone number to call and let her know. Like we knew that someone else had taken the tree.
I've spent all day half thinking that the tree will reappear. Like someone will change their mind and bring it back.
It's not come back. My theory today is that the neighborhood hooligans probably thought it would be funny to take a Christmas tree from someone's lawn, and it's probably in pieces somewhere.
My other thought? Perhaps some good Samaritan just picked it up.
In any case, I win. Hurray for me. =)

Psss. I mailed off my payments and papers that officially say they will stop suing me yesterday. I'm really hoping this is going to be the end. Well, it will be the end when I get taxes and pay them in full. That will officially be the end.
Then I just need to take my credit report and start refuting anything older than 6 years. It's so not valid. I may actually have something resembling credit by next year! It would be a "Christmas Mirable". I DID just misspell that, I like Mirable from Rugrats. It's the only reference I tend to remember. =p
