Friday Night Fun
Last night was awesome!
Tara and I walked up there from work, and I was totally CUTE, and it was kind of slow starting.
We each got a drink, which I thought were priced pretty accordingly, but maybe these people go to bars that I don't know about and that cost less.
We headed for our boss' boss, cause she is really awesome and we sat down with her. I was really worried that my boss would sit with us and she would be scrutinizing how many drinks I had, and making faces or something. But then I said to hell with it. I wasn't on the clock, I was buying my own drinks, and I know that a few people got really drunk, and I wasn't.
So, she did sit with us, but she didn't care or pay much attention to me at all.
The food was yummier than I had thought it would be. Halibut and really juicy chicken. I love fish, but rarely get a chance to eat it, and it's even rarer that I don't over cook it. Cause I don't fucking know how to cook fish, but I try occasionally; this stuff was YUMMY.
And Spanakopita, which made me sad that I don't like spinach. Cause layers of CHEESE? =(
Oh well. I instead had some roasted potatoes and vegetarian sushi. It was really good actually. I was too afraid that the avocado one would suck to try it and now I'm mildly sad. But the one with cucumber was yummy and then there was one with..something brown, which I would guess was tofu. It was GOOD.
It was so pretty on the plate though. With red peppers on some that looked like raw salmon, but of course, they weren't.
Then they did their speeches to people who had been there awhile, and they gave out gift certificates to some people that had been there FOREVER. (That's so gonna be me, I can almost feel it.)
Divisi came and sang for us, and it was really amazing. Sarah (our filer) is in the group and they do all a cappella, and she is really awesome. Did a fantastic rendition of Dreams, by the Cranberries.
It was, as Tara said "Breath taking".
There was a CUTE baby, Deanna's sister's baby. She had the BIGGEST eyes. And just really good natured. Didn't mind at all being passed around. Derek was like that. He just loved people.
She even fell asleep in the middle of a room of clapping adults, at the end of the Divisi set.
Then they gave out the door prizes. I didn't win anything but people I know did.
And everyone looked so fancy. I think almost everyone brought out the cleavage. Mine was somewhat hidden, as I wasn't sure I wanted to go that far. Some people wore sweaters, so I guess I am lying. Not almost everyone. But there WAS a lot of cleavage.
I didn't get enough pictures. I harassed people a BUNCH and made them pose for me, but a lot of those shots came out with vicious red eye and even the red eye correction isn't working. I've tried.
I'm gonna have to try my hand at Adobe Photoshop. I don't know. Maybe shrunken down, they will not look so red. They didn't look that red on the camera screen, so perhaps that is the secret.
Anyhow.
The night went well. It was fun. I got to hang out with Tara outside of work.
And when it ended, Charles was like...come out with us, we're going to the Horsehead, and so I directed Tara towards the bar and we found a parking space.
What we didn't find was Charles yet.
I wondered if I might run into someone I knew. Like maybe Jesse, or who knows.
And I did. Not Jesse, but Jenna, who I used to work with. She's...well, she's probably older than my mom, but her and I always got along.
And so every time we see each other, I get a hug and we talk. Last night, she was really wasted drunk. I think she hugged me 4 times and wanted a kiss. I'm an obliging person, so I gave her a quick peck on the lips, thinking...well, I don't want to offend her. She's not a bad sort, and she knew she was drunk and even half apologized, but I've been there. I'm sure a LOT of people have been there.
It was strange though. The next person I ran into, I guess I should say people, were Airie and Matthew.
I talked with Airie for a bit, and then we both went opposite ways. I didn't want to lose my ride and I knew Tara felt slightly uncomfortable in this bar setting with younger people, even though she was not the oldest. She just felt older than the others. Tara and I ran into more people from work who she knew, so we sat in the front and smoked. It was quieter in the front, and it was nice to talk to people that I don't necessarily know that well. Or at least listen to people who I don't know well. It's nice to just listen sometimes, especially when someone is a good "story" teller. Not that the story isn't true, just that they know how to spin a true occurrence into something really quite entertaining.
Charles finally came over, but by then we knew we had to leave. It was late and both of us were tired. It was nice that he asked us, as he has left our department and went off to the processing center. He is smart too, so it was sad to lose him. Smart and a good personality.
He appears to be dating (and I say appears cause I don't know for sure.) this girl from the coffee bar, and they both look so cute together. She's super nice too, and I bet she's got a good sense of humor. She just looks like the type.
I got home at about...11:10 or so. Then I stayed up for awhile, cause...well, cause I wanted to.
Today we've been shopping, and we hoofed it both ways. I'm pretty proud of myself, as I haven't walked both ways in awhile. We just seemed to barely miss both busses. =(
It's been a good day so far. I'm just sitting here, editing Itunes, there is really a damn lot to do to make it work the best it can. So far, Ben's made me a playlist that randomly chooses songs out of my library with restrictions on this or that, and a playlist that will only play "clean" songs, like for when am listening to my ipod at work when the customers can hear it. Or wanting to just hit play and do the dishes, but not wanting to have to jump songs every ten seconds when Derek can't hear one of them.
But that means I have to tell it which is clean, so that it will pick all of those, and I'm sure I want to have as many as I can. But it's kind of a pain in the ass.
Anyhow. Derek leaves next weekend. Which is weird to think about. One more week and then he'll be gone for 2 weeks, and I know it will go fast, but it's still weird to think about. That's my baby!

Very awesome. I just wish that the other floors would have been open. I would have liked to have been able to prowl. I LOVE the EMU.
