Let's Do This
Well that was a fairly dramatic note to leave the blog on. I haven't been upset or anything, just busy. Just something I had to say, but way dramatic.
I'm like that.
In any case. I meant to post this Tuesday, when I started it. It took longer than that, obviously. I meant to post this last night, but I got sucked into my book. I was about halfway through it yesterday, now I'm done. I devour books towards the end of them. Good ones, anyhow.
On that note, here's my blog post.
So, guess what I did this past week? Smucked up my back pretty badly.
I fell asleep Friday night, woke up not even an hour later hurting badly.
I can't sleep correctly. Or correctly to me, which is on my stomach. That hurts too bad and there is no moving easily, cause apparently, I use the muscle I smucked up to move my legs around in bed. Feels like I'm rolling around like a smucking turtle.
I like smuck as a word. Just so you know.
So, since it's been better after this weekend, I've been sleeping pretty heavily. Catching up? Not sure, but I've been asleep before 10 two nights in a row now. You only get a blog, cause today! Today is Derek's tenth birthday. (meant to post this yesterday, today is NOT his birthday.)
My baby is in the 2 digit numbers now.
It's hard to believe.
What keeps coming to mind is how I spent much of my pregnancy trying to read a bunch of Stephen King books so that I could say I've read them all. My dreams paid the price, really, and I still haven't read them all. Don't really care about the gunslinger series, or the eyes of the dragon book he wrote.
But I tried. I tried really hard while finishing high school, working two part time jobs, and basically doing little else. Can't have much fun while pregnant. At least not the kind of fun I was used to having. Aw, little stupid teenage me.
He was born on his due date, made it really easy for me as I had given my two week notice at one of my jobs to coincide with his due date.
I had so much to do the day before. I went to one of my jobs, we went on a field trip and I spent so much time walking around. We went to Carl's JR. for lunch and I remember being SO irritated at the line. The audacity! It's FAST food for chrissakes. That's when the girls I was with were like...we're not taking you out anymore, you're too grumpy.
Spent the whole day in Eugene, as there was a holiday dinner happening at the Pregnancy house that night.
Went back, got more irritated at stupid crap and finally got to go home.
From here on out are the details of my labor. Some of you have already read this as I do a post like this almost every year. Some of you were there, and maybe you want to read this to get my point of view, but I won't be butthurt if you don't. Some of you have heard this from my mouth. Skip down until I start a new paragraph if you want to be spared all the details. /disclaimer.
That night I woke up a lot, feeling like I needed to pee. And I did "pee" or what I thought was pee. When I woke up in the morning, I realized that I hadn't felt "relieved" afterwards. Whatever word I'm looking for, I just felt like maybe it wasn't pee, maybe my water had broke.
Went down for my regular appointment, told them that I thought my water might have broke, they checked and I got admitted. At noon that day I was signed into the hospital. For a little while, I just made phone calls, like "no biggie, just having a baby here, nothing to look at."
Nonchalant and stuff.
Yeah, I know.
They decided that my body did not want to have a baby, my contractions would not even out. I don't even know when they decided to start the pitocin. All I know is that that stuff SUCKS. I pleaded with them every time they went to turn it up more. My damn body didn't know nothing about birthing no babies and refused pretty much.
They put me on antibiotics, cause my water had been broken for so long. Or leaking, whatever. I couldn't leave the bed and when I moved onto my other side, they lost his heart beat. I resolutely stayed on one side as much as I could.
When they said I could have an epidural, I was so happy. When the guy got there they were confused cause I was telling the contractions to go away, they thought I meant the drug guy. Ha. NO WAY.
The funny thing about being on my side was that the epidural settled and I could feel almost nothing on one side, but I could still feel the contractions, albeit a lot less strong, on the side that was up in the air. Then came the jokes about me having no feet cause I couldn't feel them. I still laugh at that, though I think I was pretty indignant at the time, all like DAMMIT! ><
That's the gory stuff. And the not so gory stuff. I hardly thought that he would ever be TEN. It seems impossibly old. We've been through so much, we've had ups, downs, confusion, temper tantrums, and hugs. All the good things, all the not so good things, and he'll forever be my baby, even when he's an "adult".

What a difference.
I hope that he was treated like a king up in Portland, I talked to him a bit last night, but he was pre-occupied. I know he had fun at his birthday. I'm so glad we actually got the turn out we got. Like I mentioned, Jesse came over. I was hurting and not much fun and not lovey enough for him. I'm not the type to drink and "love" people. I don't hate people, I just don't like throwing that word around. Love is evident in actions, I would think. As I tried to explain, but he was having none of it. He probably thinks I hate him again. Ugh. Sometimes friends are a lot of work.
Tonight I shall sit and be lazy. I hope. Unless Ben wants me to actually help with dinner. Ha ha.
Probably not. Hopefully, I can get further into my Stephen King book (done now). There was just a part that pissed me off. I'm less than halfway through the book and something that bad had to happen to the heroine? I'm so irritated, I kept hoping someone was going to save her from the bad gunky, but no luck. She has survived, but for a minute I think my blood pressure soared cause I felt dizzy and like my heart was too big for my chest. Rare that a book can do that to me, so maybe it was something else that sent my pulse racing.
Ok, enough of my rambling. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Happy Thanksgiving to me, and I hope there is much Thankfulness all around. =)
I'm like that.

He did look pissed off, and really dark. Had a bit of jaundice at the time. LOL.
And he looked a little bit like a chipmunk. It's true, I know it.
=)
