"Little orphan Annie has on red stilleto heels, she says you love it, you love it, just gaze up at me as you..kneel"
There was a Daddie's concert last Thursday. The day before my child's 12th (When the fuck did THAT happen?) birthday. It was weird, seeing as how there was a Daddie's concert the night AFTER he was born, and he was born on a Thursday. I didn't go that one. Thankfully actually. A bunch of my friends got arrested hanging out in the graveyard after hours. I would have likely been with them had I not been recovering from a C-section. And had I not had the kid on time. Or found a babysitter I would have been comfortable with as he was ONLY a day old.
(Goddamn cafe world. I'm totally addicted and have to pause every 5 minutes to try and save my cheeseburgers. Gah!)
But I digress. Heather and I had been planning this concert since I found out about it. We go together, to almost every one. At least on my part, I believe she's gone to a few without me. A couple weeks ago, she called and told me she had the tickets and that she was bringing her friend Tricia along. I was apprehensive. I mostly get along with everyone, but I've had instances where I try to introduce people to other friends and it ends badly. So..you'd think eventually I'd run into this problem myself, but I'm rather easy going I guess.
I was a bit stand offish at the beginning. Wasn't sure how to take her.
Then she let me have the front seat and supplied the rum we were to drink. All of the sudden my brain said she was awesome. And she furthered that notion with her conversation. When Heather mentioned how she was 23, I was surprised. She seemed older than that.
We feel into an easy camaraderie. Helped by the rum no doubt.
Also by my motherly instinct which kicked in while she mentioned boys who had done her wrong. Stupid boys. I was instantly on her side, damn their side of the story.
We even started teasing Heather together easily, which earned me a few punches in the shoulder from Heather. Good natured punches, but still a bit hurty.
We ended up visiting one of the boys who was not good for her (a story I know all too well) because he'd been texting her and she was feeling nostalgic.
Our impromptu visit only showed what an asshole he was. He was sitting there with some other girl! Tricia talked to him for a bit and then came back down to where we were standing, explained the situation. Heather told us to get ready to run and then she shouted how he was a douche bag and that the other girl should leave before she found out herself.
Tricia and I were practically falling over laughing as we ran like hell from that apartment. Heather was like..you guys were too fast, and we just laughed more since she'd told us to be ready. I'm surprised no one fell over, honestly.
These are the kinds of hijinks I get up to with Heather. I'm never surprised by such things. I know we're going to do something random or weird or loud.
Then the concert FINALLY started and Tricia (young thing that she is!) ran straight for the front of the stage. So we had front stage views and awesome sound. I danced through the whole thing, even to songs I didn't know. I was sweaty and hoarse by the time we left. Heather had lost her voice, and while they didn't play "my song" I thought it was by far a much better concert than the last one we went to.
We got back to my house around midnight and Tricia wanted another drink, so we piled into my house (quietly) and had one more. Then Tricia...(a girl after my own heart, someone who loses common sense while drinking) said she wanted to take a shot. We convinced her that indeed, she did NOT want to take a shot of my bottom brand rum.
So her and Heather were off to get into their pajamas at Heather's house. I was a bit jealous, honestly. We'd been having so much fun a sleepover would have been awesome. *sigh*
Maybe another time.
I just hope that my perception based on one night is true and that she is awesome. I can't imagine not liking someone Heather likes...beyond the stupid boys who break her heart...so I'm going to go with her being very awesome. And hope my protective streak didn't just find another person who I can't save.
Before the night was over, we were making grand plans to hang out again. Nothing concrete, it never is with Heather. Meh. That's the only part I hate, not knowing when we can have fun times again.
Well...except for my 30th birthday. SOMETHING WILL BE DONE. Not sure what, but 30 is a big one, so something has to happen that's awesome. It's more than 7 months away and I'm already thinking of it. Heh.
I did have an amazing time though. A new friend, a rocking concert, euphoria high from dancing. =)
The next day brought the kid's birthday and his presents. He actually asked me if his present was a "real PSP" when he opened it. At least I know he liked it.
Saturday was a movie and a sleep over which only cemented that I hate having more than one kid around. SO LOUD.
A damn good weekend, if I do say so myself.
